Our story
RentPins started with a simple question: why does finding a home still feel like a scam?
Anyone who has searched for a rental property in India knows the drill. You call a number from a listing, and a broker picks up — not the owner. Before you can even see the place, they want a month's rent as a brokerage fee. Sometimes two months. And half the time, the listing isn't even available anymore; it was just bait to get your number.
The brokers don't just charge heavily — they actively get between you and the owner. You can't ask questions directly, you can't negotiate honestly, and you have no way to verify if what you're being told is even true. People lose initial deposits to brokers who vanish. People pay for site visits that never happen.
On the other side, property owners put up their own "To Let" boards — physical signs outside their gates — because they want to deal directly with tenants too. No broker fees for them either. But renters don't know which streets to ride down, and riding around aimlessly is a full day wasted.
We were on a bike, riding through a neighbourhood, looking for a 2BHK. We passed three "To Let" boards that day — but we missed two of them because we took the wrong turn. When we went back the next day, one was already gone. Someone else had found it first.
That's when it hit us: the data exists. Owners are literally putting it on the wall. The problem is just that nobody has put it on a map.
So we built RentPins. A place where owners pin their property — directly, as themselves, in 2 minutes — and riders can open the map, see every available rental around them, and navigate straight to the gate. No broker in the middle. No fake numbers. No fees.
Owners pin their property. Renters navigate straight to it.
Every listing is the real owner. What you call is who picks up.
No listing fees, no broker commissions, no hidden costs.
We started with rental properties because that's where the pain was sharpest. But the idea is bigger: any local, discoverable thing that belongs on a map should be on a map. We're starting here, solving this right, and then we'll see what else needs to be pinned.
If you've ever been scammed by a broker, lost a deposit, or spent a Sunday riding around looking for a board that turned out to be gone — this is for you. And if you're an owner who just wants genuine tenants without paying someone else to stand in your way — this is for you too.
Whether you're looking for a home or listing one — it starts here.
